Ten days until Thanksgiving! A day where it is socially acceptable to stuff yourself until your belly is swollen with food giving you that pregnant look that I like to call “food baby”.
Then you plop yourself in front of the TV and fall into a deep snore-filled slumber.
Since I spent almost the whole month of October in Houston there is no reason to go back so soon. I have decided to spend Thanksgiving in NYC.
I was a little worried about the turkey portion of the meal because I have never cooked one.
But my mom, once again, comes to the cooking rescue.
She sent me a New Braunfels Smokehouse Peppered Smoked Turkey. It is already fully cooked. Once it is thawed I just pop in the oven for 20-30 minutes to heat up.
The New Braunfels Smokehouse magazine states it is, “slow-smoked to golden perfection, with a generous dusting of aromatic cracked pepper, our ultra-tender signature turkey looks fantastic and tastes even better.”
The picture makes it look so appetizing that I kind of wish the magazine came in 3D.
Now I just need side dishes. My roommate and I both want green bean casserole. I want dressing with gravy (mom’s recipe) and either rice or Zesty Mac & Cheese (my recipe). (Yes, I do have a few recipes up my sleeve.)
My stomach is already growling. Good think I have a roast in the Crock-Pot for dinner tonight!
