Thinking About You, Whitney

I’m watching “We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston”.

Watching the old footage of Whitney singing and her performances brought back memories from when I was a kid.

I remember watching her videos on VH1 as a kid during summer vacations.  We only had one television set so I would keep it on while I did other stuff throughout the house.

When “The Greatest Love of All” came on I would run to the living room and sing it at the top of lungs.  As a kid I thought the song meant to follow your dreams. At the time my dream was to become an actress and move to NYC. So hearing and singing with that song always made me happy and inspired me.

“I Wanna Dance With Somebody” was one of the first songs I learned to play on my violin. I still have the sheet music and the few times I have played the violin as an adult I usually play that song to warm up.

I like listening to Whitney Houston’s music because it always made me feel happy when I got to sing at the top of my lungs with her. I guess it influenced me because I still like music I can sing along with.

When I hear her music now all those same feelings come rushing back.

What are some of your memories involving Whitney Houston?
