I was so exhausted when I walked through the doors of Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. I took it easy that day.
I will definitely go back next year!

For me, Day 2 of New York Comic Con 2013 was better. I actually got to visit the main floor instead of waiting in autograph lines. I bought a ton of Doctor Who stuff plus t-shirts that proclaim my love for Doctor Who and Big Bang Theory. Saw a red Darth Vader break dancing but only got pictures of his friend.
There were some great costumes that people put a lot of thought and hard work in to. I may even dress up next year but only for one day. Some people wore their costumes everyday and by the last day they did not smell so fresh.
I just realized I didn’t post many of the pictures I took while at New York Comic Con 2013. Here they are in Slideshow form. Some of them didn’t come out as clear as I wanted, I was still learning the camera. Day 2 and Day 3 will be coming shortly.
New York Comic Con isn’t always about the costumes. Sometimes you can say a lot with just a T-Shirt.
NYCC 2013 was my very first Con. I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t sure if wearing a costume was an unwritten rule and I would be looked down upon because I didn’t wear a one.
I decided not to wear a costume. I’ve been to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and know the temperatures can vary depending on where you are and how many people are in the area. Also, I didn’t want to wrestle a costume during bathroom breaks. The stalls are teeny, tiny. I wore jeans and plain shirts.
When I arrived I saw tons of costumes but I also saw people in jeans and shirts just like me. I felt so much better. I also bought a few fun T-shirts to wear to next year’s Comic Con. Here are a few more fun T’s. Let me know which one is your favorite.
I was walking by a really long autograph line and this woman caught my eye because of the book she was reading (Huge Penis), the Doctor Who lunchbox and the red bow tie. No one should underestimate this woman. I bet she has a plethora of hidden talents.
Sunday saw an invasion of more people under the age of 18 at New York Comic Con. But, it was the kind of invasion that no one really minds; mostly, because they were so darn cute!
You would think with all the scary and spooky cosplayers walking the halls of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center that many kids would be screaming and crying, but no, they were just as excited to see the villians as much as the heroes from their favorite show or comic book. Even some dressed up as villains! Who doesn’t love a great Serpentor! By the way, his father hand-made this costume.
Some even had fun with the decorations. This kid is about to deliver a swift kick to Spiderman. Don’t worry Spiderman didn’t suffer too much because this little boy’s mom came over and saved the balloon from more kicks.
Not every kid came in costume but some had a unique way of standing out, like this 17-year-old who decided to give back to the NYCC community.
These little boys were waiting in line with their parents to get a picture with Sir Patrick Stewart.
Kids dressed up as Doctor Who and his TARDIS! Gotta love that!
Here are some kids who looked so cute I have to post their picture again.
I just want to give a shout out to all the kids who came in their Comic Con best and let the adults take picture after picture as we oohed and awwed over their adorable and scary costumes. Comic Con had some great sessions for kids to participate in like learning how to play Quidditch; kids costume parade and drawing workshops.
I just got home from my very first day at New York Comic Con 2013. It wasn’t exactly what I expected. What I expected to see were tons of people dress in crazy costumes. And I did and they didn’t disappoint. I saw Power Rangers, Doctor Whovians, steam punk, Transformers, Zombies, Anime characters, Jessica Rabbit, Nordic Gods, Avengers, Justice League, Villians, and things that can only come from dreams. Everyone was so nice and let me take pictures of them.
Before going to Comic Con I read the “How to Survive NYCC” section and realized that Comic Con has a big
problem with body order and stinky people. The tips kept mentioning to put on deodorant before coming and to bring some with you. It also mentioned that Con goers should wear clean clothes and shower. I just thought, “is it really so bad that they have to put it on the website?” I found out from others today that yes, it really is that bad. I also think that the list should add lent roller to the “Items to Bring” list. Every time I wanted to sit down I had to look first because Wookies shed and so do wigs, costumes and drabbits.
While standing in line to get autographs I saw some of the celebrities take pictures with fans while they were signing autographs. There were some lines I didn’t want to stand in so I zoomed in on the guests and took a picture. I didn’t know they didn’t want their picture taken until after I took them. I did get some pics with celebrities.
Other than that I spent the majority of the day waiting in lines. Waiting 45 minutes for the shuttle to the convention only to find out it stopped running. Then waited in line to get inside; then waited in line to get autographs; waited in line for lunch. Then almost waited in line for the Wikia Cosplay Contest but found out my “All Access” badge got me in first. Kahn won Best in Show and Fan
Favorite. Everybody kept yelling his name. It was hilarious.
Tomorrow I plan on doing more than waiting in lines.
I took a lot more pictures but I need to get to bed so I will make a massive picture post at the end of NYCC. But here are a few more of the celebrities I saw today.
